Cystic spaces in Adenomas

There are many cases where adenomas have cystic spaces that are enclosed by a thin capsule. The cystic spaces may contain yellowish or red brown fluid content. The encapsulated cystic spaces are well vascularized and are found towards the interior.

The capsule that forms the cyst is rough with fine proliferations. There are various types of adenomas known as the cystic adenoma, trabecular adenoma, oxyphilic adenoma and much more.

Among these, the cystic adenoma is comprised of the fluid filled cystic spaces. The fluid content is mainly comprised of proteins and there are several necrotic foci and erythrocytes found in the adenomas.

The tumor cells are arranged in the form of nests and are mostly found in the peripheral region. There is a capsule of fibrous connective tissue found in the adenoma. The adenoma will gradually develop into cystic degeneration.

The spaces in the cysts are identified by various imaging tests like the ultrasound, sonography or CT scan. These tests will reveal the presence of adenoma cysts in the body. In the initial stages, the cysts are available in benign form but as the disease progresses and if left untreated, it could lead to malignancy.
