My 3 week old baby is always hungry and this is a great cause of concern for me, as it can also be due to a growth spurt. The growth spurt is the most common problem that occurs when the baby turns three weeks.
Thought, I do not stop breastfeeding as getting milk is not a concern, however, I feel weak and start eating more and have juices as that produce more milk and are also healthier for me. Try not to give solids to your baby at this age, as these will make him hungrier. Start feeding supplements at correct age to avoid such growth spurts.
The signs of growth spurts could be anything like baby being hungry all the time, or waking up in the middle of the night for food, or often getting irritated. My 3 week old baby is always hungry due to sudden changes in the atmosphere and it is embarrassing that he wants milk all the time.
However, I manage it very patiently when my baby goes hungry, but sometimes it is more worrying if there is no change and this thing continues for long. Its then that I consult my child’s pediatrician and try to inquire for the reason why my 3 week old baby is always hungry, and realize that this is common at this age.
In fact, doctors say that this is a recurring phenomenon as it comes again later when baby turns 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or 12 months old even till the time he reaches adolescence.
