Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma – Adenomas are classified based on the glandular tissue where they are formed. Salivary gland is a major gland, found in the oral cavity and it serves the purpose of secreting saliva that is used in the mastication of food making it easy to swallow. The adenoma that is formed in this salivary gland is known as Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma. The tumor is usually found in the benign form and is a very common type of tumor.
The tumor is referred to as pleomorphic, meaning mixed tumor as it depends on the part of the gland that it originated from. In this case, the Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma has been formed from two layers of the gland tissue known as the epithelial and myoepithelial lining. Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma is described as salivary gland cancer. In this form of cancer, the tumor may occur in the major glands that are available in the oral cavity of human beings. It is known as parotid, submandiubular and sublingual glands and there are several minor glands that are also found in the oral cavity. Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma has been found to have higher level of incidence in people involved in rubber manufacturing industries as they are often exposed to the chemicals involved in the making of rubber that can cause mutations in the salivary gland cells leading to Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma.
In other case, the patients suffering from Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma have been found to have been exposed to asbestos mining areas that are found to be a major carcinogenic agent. People also involved in plumbing and other forms of wood work are also susceptible to Carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma. According to experts, an over exposure to ionizing agents has been found to have carcinogenic effects in the human body.
